Who we are
Gymnastics Plus is owned and operated by The Underground Performance Institute LLC, 6705 Oak Grove Parkway, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445.
Our website is gymnasticsplus.org and our app is Gymnastics Plus for iPhone and Android.
Questions about this policy, or about your data, go to support@gymnasticsplus.org.
The short version
We are a recruiting and training platform for gymnasts, their families, and college coaches. To do that we hold a gymnast’s profile, their competition record, and video of them competing, and we let coaches see it. That is the whole point of the product, and it is the most important thing to understand about your data here: a gymnast’s profile exists so college coaches can find it.
Everything else below is detail.
What we collect, and why
When you create an account
- Your name and email address
- A phone number, if you give one
- Your date of birth. We ask because the platform is for ages 13 and up, and because families with a gymnast under 13 are set up differently (see below)
- Your password, stored encrypted, never in a form we can read
- If you sign in with Google or Apple instead, we receive an identifier from them plus your name and email address. We do not receive your password. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive a forwarding address from Apple rather than your real one
On a gymnast’s recruiting profile
- Graduation year, competition level, club, and high school
- Academic information you choose to add, such as GPA and test scores
- Competition scores and personal bests
- Photographs and video you upload
- Your club coach’s email address, if you provide it so we can verify your details
As you use the platform
- Colleges you save to your college tracker
- Messages you send to coaches, gymnasts or parents
- Posts and comments you write in the Community
- Which profiles a coach has viewed or saved to their board
- Basic technical information every website receives, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you open, which we use to keep the service running and secure
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. Ads appear only on our public pages. There are no ads inside the app or on any member page.
We share it in four situations, and no others.
1. With college coaches, which is the point of the service. A gymnast’s recruiting profile, including video and competition record, is visible to verified college coaches on the platform. That is what a gymnast signs up for. It is not visible to the general public and it is not indexed by search engines.
2. With companies that run parts of the service for us.
- Anthropic. Posts and comments written in the Community are sent to Anthropic’s moderation service to check them automatically for harmful content before they appear. This is how we keep a space used by teenagers safe. Anthropic processes the content to return a decision and does not use it to train their models.
- Bunny.net. We are moving the storage and streaming of uploaded video to Bunny.net. Once that is live, they hold the video you upload and deliver it to the people allowed to watch it, and nothing else.
- Hostinger, who host our website and send our email.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google, and for Google Analytics, which tells us how the website and app are used. On our public pages Google also serves ads.
- Apple, only if you choose to sign in with Apple. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email, Apple forwards our messages to you without giving us your address.
- Meta (Facebook), to measure our advertising, on our public pages and on the sign-in and sign-up screens only. It is not used on any page once you are signed in.
- A payment processor, only if we ever offer paid memberships. Today every membership is free and we take no payments.
Each of these may only use your information to provide their service to us.
3. When the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety.
4. If the business is ever sold or merged, in which case we would tell you first.
Gymnasts under 18, and gymnasts under 13
This is the part most parents want, so it is written plainly.
The platform is for ages 13 and up. A gymnast under 13 cannot create their own account. If one tries, we stop them and tell them to ask a parent.
A parent can create and manage an account for a gymnast under 13. So yes, we do hold information about children under 13, and we do it deliberately, with a parent involved from the start. We think that is the honest position for a youth sports platform, and it is better than pretending otherwise. When an account is set up this way, the parent creates it, the parent is linked to it, and the parent can see the messages that account sends and receives.
For any gymnast under 18, a parent or guardian is linked to the account and has read-only access to their messages.
A parent can ask us to delete their child’s account and data at any time, by emailing support@gymnasticsplus.org, or by using Delete Account inside the app.
If you are a parent and you believe an account was created for your child without your involvement, email support@gymnasticsplus.org and we will remove it.
How long we keep it
- While your account is open, we keep your profile and content so the service works.
- When you delete your account, we remove your personal information. Some records are anonymised rather than erased, so that things like a coach’s recruiting board do not break, but they no longer identify you.
- Some records we must keep for legal, tax or security reasons, for as long as the law requires.
Your rights, and how to use them
You can:
- See your data. Most of it is on your profile and in your settings.
- Correct it. Edit your profile at any time.
- Download it. Email support@gymnasticsplus.org and we will send you a copy.
- Delete it. Use Delete Account in Settings inside the app, or email support@gymnasticsplus.org. A parent may do this for a gymnast under 18.
Depending on where you live you may have further rights, including under the laws of California and the European Union. Email us and we will honour them.
Security
Your connection to us is encrypted. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form. Access to member data is restricted to the people who need it to run the platform.
No online service can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can promise is that we review this regularly and we will tell you promptly if something goes wrong in a way that affects you.
Changes to this policy
If we change it, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If the change is significant, we will tell you rather than rely on you noticing.
